MBDA Announces New Strategic Partnerships at Eurosatory 2026
European missile and defence systems manufacturer MBDA announced two new strategic cooperation agreements during the Eurosatory 2026 exhibition, aimed at strengthening European defence capabilities, industrial resilience and protection against emerging aerial threats.
MBDA signed a Partnership Agreement with Unifly, a global provider of Unmanned Aircraft System Traffic Management (UTM) technology. The agreement was signed in the presence of Matthias Diependaele and will initially focus on Flanders as a reference case, with the objective of exploring broader international deployment opportunities.
The cooperation seeks to address the growing challenge posed by increasing drone activity by combining MBDA’s expertise in integrated air defence systems with Unifly’s operationally proven UTM platform. The partners will work on solutions capable of detecting, identifying and responding to aerial threats while integrating seamlessly with existing drone traffic management networks.
The collaboration is expected to support the protection of military installations, critical infrastructure, airports, ports, public events and other sensitive locations. MBDA will contribute its layered air defence expertise, including its SKY WARDEN counter-drone solution, while Unifly will provide advanced airspace management capabilities.
MBDA also signed a cooperation agreement with Terma, the Danish defence and aerospace company specialising in mission-critical technologies and systems.
The agreement was attended by Sébastien Martin and Martin Lidegaard, highlighting the strategic importance of the partnership for both countries.
The cooperation aims to strengthen Europe’s defence industrial base through joint development activities, particularly in the naval domain. Beyond traditional industrial participation, the partnership will focus on developing new defence solutions, supporting future export opportunities and enhancing allied air defence and maritime security capabilities.
For MBDA, the agreement represents the first step in a long-term partnership with Terma and the wider Danish defence industry, further reinforcing defence cooperation following Denmark’s selection of MBDA sovereign air defence systems for national airspace protection.
MBDA stated that these agreements reflect its long-standing multinational cooperation model and demonstrate how industrial partnerships can contribute to strengthening European sovereignty, resilience and collective security.
