Official Visit of the Chief of the National Guard to the Kingdom of Bahrain

From 12 to 13 February 2026, the Chief of the National Guard, Lieutenant General Emmanouil Theodorou, conducted an official visit to the Kingdom of Bahrain, underscoring the steady advancement of defence relations between the two countries.

The visit commenced on Thursday, 12 February, with an official reception at the Ministry of Defence of Bahrain. Lieutenant General Theodorou subsequently held a private meeting with H.E. the Minister of Defence, General Abdoullah bin Hassan Al Nuaimi. Discussions focused on the continuously expanding cooperation between the Armed Forces of the two nations, including concrete proposals aimed at strengthening military collaboration. The two sides also exchanged views on current geopolitical developments and the evolving security landscape in the wider region, emphasizing the importance of stability, coordination, and strategic dialogue.

During his stay, the Chief of the National Guard visited the headquarters of the U.S. 5th Fleet in Bahrain. There, he met with Vice Admiral Curt A. Renshaw, Commander of U.S. Naval Forces Central Command, U.S. 5th Fleet, and Combined Maritime Forces. The Vice Admiral provided a comprehensive briefing on ongoing missions and operational activities within the fleet’s area of responsibility. The meeting also served as an opportunity for an in-depth exchange of perspectives on regional maritime security and the exploration of further avenues for cooperation in areas of mutual interest.

The official visit reflects the growing strategic engagement between the two countries and highlights their shared commitment to enhancing defence cooperation and promoting security and stability in the broader region.
