National Guard Conducts Joint Training with U.S. Armed Forces and New Jersey National Guard
The Cyprus National Guard has conducted a joint training activity with the United States Armed Forces and the New Jersey National Guard as part of their ongoing bilateral defence cooperation.
The training involved personnel from both countries and included participation from a U.S. Marine Corps unit responsible for fleet security in Europe, the Fleet Antiterrorism Security Team Company Europe. The activity also brought together units from the Cyprus National Guard’s Commando Command, the 964th Military Police Battalion, and the Special Anti-Terrorist Unit (EAO) of the Cyprus Police.
The training focused on strategies and tactical procedures related to the prevention and management of terrorist threats. Participants also practiced the use of riot-control equipment and crowd-control tactics, enhancing interoperability and operational readiness in complex security scenarios.
In parallel, National Guard personnel travelled to the United States under the framework of the State Partnership Program with the New Jersey National Guard. The visit aimed to facilitate the exchange of expertise and provide insight into operational procedures and capabilities in the fields of cyber defence and cyber security.
Through initiatives such as these, the Cyprus National Guard continues to invest in the training and professional development of its personnel both domestically and internationally. Such efforts remain a key pillar in maintaining operational readiness and ensuring an effective response to evolving security challenges.
