Eviden, the Atos Group product brand specialising in cybersecurity products, mission-critical systems and vision AI, announced the launch of ASTRA-LAS on 27 October 2026. The new tactical decision-support solution is designed to assist naval officers and operators conducting above-water warfare in increasingly complex operational environments. Combining operational data, tactical visualisation and mission-specific algorithms, ASTRA-LAS aims to help naval personnel interpret information more effectively and translate situational awareness into timely, informed decisions.

ASTRA-LAS, which stands for Tactical Assistant for Analysis and Action – Above-Water Warfare, uses available operational information to generate an enhanced visual representation of the tactical environment. It provides automated analysis and recommendations tailored to the mission, supporting operators as they assess developments and evaluate possible actions. According to Eviden, the solution is intended to reduce cognitive workload, improve information exploitation and shorten operational decision-making cycles. It represents the naval warfare application of Atos Codex, the group’s recently launched platform for real-time operational decision-making.

The launch addresses a central challenge facing modern naval forces: the growing volume of information produced by multiple sensors and operational systems. Collecting this data is only one element of achieving information superiority. Operators must also interpret it quickly, identify relevant developments and understand their implications for the mission. ASTRA-LAS is designed to support that process by bringing operational information into a tactical decision-support environment. Its development reflects the broader shift towards data-centric naval operations, where the ability to exploit information rapidly increasingly shapes operational effectiveness.

Eviden links this evolution to the emergence of onboard data hubs, which enable operational information to be collected and exploited more rapidly. Such infrastructure provides a foundation for tools that make data more accessible and useful to personnel at sea. Developed through an agile approach centred on naval operational requirements, ASTRA-LAS is designed to accommodate new functions and updates during deployments. Eviden says its analytical capabilities can evolve in response to operational feedback, allowing the solution to adapt as operators’ needs and tactical conditions change.

The system also incorporates capabilities developed by specialist partners. Racine Group contributes digital orders of battle built using open-source intelligence, while HawAI.tech provides artificial intelligence-based route optimisation technologies. These contributions form part of an ecosystem through which Eviden combines operational expertise, data capabilities and innovation from smaller companies and start-ups. The approach is intended to expand ASTRA-LAS’s capabilities while addressing changing naval requirements for information exploitation and tactical support. It also illustrates the role of specialist technology providers in developing applications for demanding maritime environments.

Bernard Payer, head of mission-critical systems at Eviden, described the increasing pace of operations and proliferation of information sources as key drivers behind the solution. He emphasised the need to convert maritime situational-awareness data into operational advantages through advanced processing and algorithms. ASTRA-LAS builds on Eviden’s experience in defence systems integration and mission-critical technologies, applying that expertise to naval decision support. By combining visualisation, operational data and tailored analysis, the company aims to provide actionable information throughout the decision-making process, helping officers and operators manage complexity and respond effectively to evolving tactical situations.
