Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) has unveiled HYPNOSIS<\/strong>, an advanced Navigation Warfare (NAVWAR) air defense system designed to simultaneously disrupt and neutralize multiple aerial threats that rely on Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS), including large-scale attacks involving unmanned aerial systems (UAS).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The new system provides a soft-kill layer of protection<\/strong> intended to complement kinetic, or hard-kill, interception systems within an integrated multi-layered air defense architecture.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Modern aerial threats increasingly depend on satellite navigation signals for accurate positioning, timing and guidance toward designated targets. HYPNOSIS is designed to exploit this dependency by disrupting or manipulating these navigation signals, preventing hostile aerial systems from accurately navigating to their intended targets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to IAI, the system can address multiple simultaneous threats approaching a protected area from different directions, providing an additional and potentially cost-effective defensive layer against increasingly complex aerial attacks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Networked Jamming and Spoofing Architecture<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

HYPNOSIS consists of an array of mobile jamming and spoofing stations<\/strong> strategically positioned around the area or critical asset requiring protection. The stations operate together as a coordinated network and are connected to a centralized Command and Control (C2) center<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This architecture enables real-time coordination, threat analysis and rapid response. The system is also designed for autonomous operation through its networked C2 center, reducing the requirement for direct operator intervention during an engagement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Drawing on IAI’s operational experience in NAVWAR technologies, HYPNOSIS combines advanced jamming and spoofing capabilities to disrupt satellite-based navigation systems. Its unified C2 architecture can also be integrated with hard-kill air defense systems, allowing soft-kill and kinetic capabilities to operate as complementary defensive layers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Boaz Levy, IAI Chairman of the Board<\/strong>, highlighted the growing requirement for integrated defenses capable of responding to increasingly diverse aerial threats.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Levy said IAI continues to develop technologies intended to provide customers with an operational advantage while protecting national security, strategic infrastructure and civilian populations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Guy Barlev, Executive VP and GM of Space, Missiles and Systems at IAI<\/strong>, described HYPNOSIS as a significant addition to existing air defense architectures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to Barlev, combining HYPNOSIS with hard-kill systems strengthens the multi-layered defense concept by introducing an operationally effective and cost-efficient complementary protection layer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Protecting Critical Infrastructure<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

HYPNOSIS has been developed to protect critical assets and strategic infrastructure<\/strong>, including strategic sites, energy facilities and air defense installations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Its ability to engage numerous GNSS-dependent aerial threats simultaneously is particularly relevant as armed forces confront increasingly sophisticated UAS attacks, including coordinated raids involving multiple systems operating from different directions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Rather than relying exclusively on kinetic interceptors against such threats, HYPNOSIS introduces an electronic warfare-based defensive option. Integrated with conventional air defense systems, the technology is intended to create a broader layered architecture in which electronic disruption and kinetic interception can be coordinated according to the operational situation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With HYPNOSIS, IAI is expanding its air defense portfolio into an increasingly important area of modern warfare, where control and disruption of navigation signals are becoming central elements in protecting strategic assets against evolving unmanned and precision-guided aerial threats.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
