The Nigerian Air Force (NAF)<\/strong> recorded a significant operational milestone on 4 February 2026<\/strong> with the commissioning of a reactivated Super Puma helicopter (NAF 565)<\/strong> at 205 Rotary Wing<\/strong>, Ikeja, Lagos. He emphasized that the restoration of legacy platforms remains central to strengthening national security and maintaining operational superiority across all theatres.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The CAS expressed appreciation to the Bola Ahmed Tinubu, President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces<\/strong>, noting that the Federal Government\u2019s Renewed Hope Agenda<\/strong> is translating into tangible capability gains through targeted acquisitions and the recovery of critical assets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Highlighting the operational value of the platform, Air Marshal Aneke described the Super Puma<\/strong> as indispensable to NAF operations. \u201cThe Super Puma is a workhorse whose role is second to none in the Nigerian Air Force,\u201d<\/em> he said, underscoring its importance in troop transport, casualty evacuation, search and rescue, and logistics support. He also noted its proven effectiveness during Operation Hadin Kai<\/strong> and other joint missions across the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The CAS commended the consultant, retired Air Commodore T. A. Badru<\/strong>, alongside the Air Officer Commanding Mobility Command and the technicians of 205 Rotary Wing<\/strong>, for their professionalism and technical expertise in restoring the aircraft. He charged personnel to maintain strict safety and maintenance standards, stressing that discipline and a strong airmanship culture are directly linked to sustained mission readiness.<\/p>\n\n\n\n During a durbar with personnel at Sam Ethnan Air Force Base<\/strong>, Air Marshal Aneke highlighted the NAF\u2019s improved operational tempo and revealed that the Service is fast-tracking the induction of advanced platforms.
