    On 10 September on the MBDA booth at DSEI UK 2025, UK\u00a0 Minister of State for Defence Procurement and Industry, Luke\u00a0 Pollard MP and Armament General Engineer Ga\u00ebl Diaz De\u00a0 Tuesta of France’s DGA (Direction G\u00e9n\u00e9rale de l’Armement)\u00a0 unveiled STRATUS as the new name for FC\/ASW.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

    The unveiling took place at a model of the brand-new design\u00a0 for STRATUS LO (Low Observable) \u2013 formerly known as\u00a0 TP15 \u2013 and a model for STRATUS RS (Rapid Strike) \u2013 formerly known as RJ10 \u2013 highlighting the significant\u00a0 progress of the program.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

    Through one program, MBDA is developing two\u00a0 complementary, adaptable and interoperable missiles that\u00a0 will deliver decisive capabilities for deep strike, anti-ship,\u00a0 suppression & destruction of enemy air defences and defeat\u00a0 of high value assets.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

    The missiles are for use across the air, sea and land domains,\u00a0 from multiple platforms, and are able to operate in denied\u00a0 areas. Together, they combine the survivability benefits of\u00a0 high speed\/manoeuvrability and low observability needed for\u00a0 optimal flexibility and performance in tomorrow’s contested\u00a0 battlespace and high intensity conflicts.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

    Eric B\u00e9ranger, CEO of MBDA, said: “These new advances on\u00a0 STRATUS are the result of France, UK and Italy’s strong\u00a0 commitment to develop Europe’s present and future critical\u00a0 capabilities.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

    Maturing such a large portfolio of technologies in such a short\u00a0 amount of time has required a massive effort between nations and has again demonstrated the value of the MBDA\u00a0 cooperation model. MBDA will continue to deliver on the next\u00a0 phase, bringing together France, the UK and Italy to meet the\u00a0 armed forces needs and protect European citizens for the\u00a0 years to come\u201d.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

    MBDA continues at pace for the next phase of the program. The successful conclusion of the program’s Assessment\u00a0 Phase endorsed the maturity of the advanced technologies\u00a0 and systems required to launch the full Development Phase.\u00a0 STRATUS is leveraging the full strength of MBDA co operative DNA with more than 750 engineers working on the\u00a0 program across the Group.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

      MBDA is using DSEI UK 2025 as a showcase for its addition\u00a0 of SPEAR GLIDE, a cost-effective addition to the SPEAR\u00a0 family of weapons. Building upon existing variants, SPEAR\u00a0 GLIDE extends MBDA’s portfolio with a clear focus on rapidly\u00a0 expanding stockpiles. SPEAR GLIDE offers a lower-cost\u00a0 option using readily available commercial off-the-shelf\u00a0 (COTS) components and alternative production lines, while\u00a0 using artificial intelligence (AI) to maintain missile\u00a0 performance with image-based navigation for GNSS denied environments.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

      The suitability for SPEAR GLIDE for rapid volume production\u00a0 enables production surge should the need arise. Developing\u00a0 SPEAR GLIDE using MBDA’s digital twin capabilities with real\u00a0 life SPEAR performance data has enabled accelerated\u00a0 development program through Concept and Assessment\u00a0 phases. Leveraging existing infrastructure, loader systems,\u00a0 storage, test equipment, facilities and integration solutions for\u00a0 4th and 5th generation platforms, SPEAR GLIDE has\u00a0 reduced risk and acquisition costs, and the opportunity for\u00a0 accelerated entry to service.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

        MBDA is presenting its latest ONE-WAY EFFECTOR (OWE),\u00a0 an affordable heavy deep fires solution named\u00a0 CROSSBOW\u2122 the OWE HEAVY at DSEI UK this week, 9- 12 September 2025. CROSSBOW\u2122 the OWE HEAVY has\u00a0 been designed to be a deep fires capability able to operate in\u00a0 high intensity conflicts and notably in complex\u00a0 electromagnetic environments, at a cost that enables\u00a0 significant combat mass.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

        With MBDA responsible for the overall weapon system,\u00a0 together with a team of small and medium sized\u00a0 enterprises (SMEs) and large businesses from across\u00a0 Europe, CROSSBOW\u2122 the OWE HEAVY has gone from\u00a0 design to demonstration in seven months.\u00a0\u00a0<\/b><\/p>

        Helped by a modular design utilizing military and commercial\u00a0 \u201coff the shelf\u201d subsystems, production at scale is possible as\u00a0 early as quarter two (Q2) 2026. MBDA has brought its high end complex weapons understanding to deliver a credible\u00a0 solution, with options for spirally developing the capability\u00a0 across survivability, range\/lethality, navigation, and platform\u00a0 integration as the customer or the evolving threat dictates.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

        CROSSBOW\u2122 the OWE HEAVY is ground launched from\u00a0 the back of a vehicle, delivering multi-role kinetic and non kinetic payloads up to 300kg out to ranges in excess of\u00a0 800km, destroying static targets, among which high value\u00a0 assets.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

        CROSSBOW\u2122 the OWE HEAVY was designed in parallel\u00a0 to the OWE launched at the Paris Air Show 2025, with a\u00a0 similar mind-set but applied to a different threat set,\u00a0 providing a different solution. The similarities also\u00a0 extend to the sovereignty of the capability with ‘off the\u00a0 shelf’ production mentality lending itself to easy\u00a0 reconfiguration for customers wishing to use domestic\u00a0 supply chains, as well as the options for spiral\u00a0 development.\u00a0<\/b><\/p>
