The<br \/>company is contributing to its extensive expertise in the<br \/>maritime sector and playing a central part in the development<br \/>of tactical artificial intelligence (AI) in the maritime defense<br \/>industry.<br \/>GhostPlay@SEA is a project funded by the Bundeswehr<br \/>technology program dtec.bw, which builds on the results of<br \/>the original GhostPlay project. GhostPlay created a so-called<br \/>\u2018Defense Metaverse\u2019, a high-performance simulation<br \/>environment for AI-based combat simulations on land and in<br \/>the air.<br \/>This vision is now being expanded to include the maritime<br \/>dimension. The aim of the project is to explore AI-supported<br \/>methods in order to develop and evaluate new and proven<br \/>tactical behavior patterns and decision-making processes for<br \/>naval warfare. In addition, the transfer of virtually trained<br \/>tactics to real hardware will be researched and piloted.<br \/>Dr Jeronimo Dzaack, Co-Head of Future Tech, explains:<br \/>\u201cGhostPlay@SEA aims to fundamentally change the way<br \/>future naval operations are planned and conducted and to<br \/>further expand the technological leadership of all partners<br \/>involved. In the virtual environment, highly complex combat<br \/>situations can be realistically simulated, and optimal tactics<br \/>can be safely tested.\u201d<br \/>By using state-of-the-art AI and simulation technologies,<br \/>future threat scenarios \u2013 from drone swarms to autonomous<br \/>submarines \u2013 can be simulated in advance within a risk-free<br \/>virtual environment. \u201cThis makes it possible to test and<br \/>optimize tactical concepts at an early stage, even before real<br \/>systems are deployed. The knowledge gained in this way<br \/>flows directly into the development of new maritime defense<br \/>technologies,\u201d continues Dzaack.<br \/>The GhostPlay@SEA consortium includes major players<br \/>from science and industry, the Helmut Schmidt University \/<br \/>University of the Federal Armed Forces Hamburg,<br \/>HENSOLDT, 21Strategies, Rheinmetall and Borchert<br \/>Consulting &amp; Research AG. The project underlines the<br \/>innovative strength of the German defense industry in the age<br \/>of digitalization.
