The General Director of Defence Investments and Armaments (GDDIA) of the Hellenic Ministry of National Defence, Major General Ioannis Bouras, and the Chairman and CEO of MBDA France, Eric Béranger, signed a new Framework Agreement and the first Executive Contract of 2026 for the continued support of the Hellenic Armed Forces’ MICA missile systems.

According to the General Directorate for Defence Investments and Armaments (GDDIA), the agreements were signed on Saturday, 25 April 2026, and concern the follow-on support of MICA IR/RF missiles and associated equipment currently in service with the Hellenic Air Force.

The signed documents include:

▪ Framework Agreement 04G/26 for the follow-on support of MICA IR/RF missiles
▪ The 1st Executive Contract of 2026 between the Hellenic Ministry of National Defence and MBDA France under the above Framework Agreement

The MICA IR (Imaging InfraRed) and MICA RF (Radio Frequency) are French multi-role air-to-air missiles designed for short- to medium-range engagements, with a range of up to approximately 60 kilometres. The missile family is currently integrated on the Hellenic Air Force’s Dassault Mirage 2000-5 and Dassault Rafale fighter aircraft fleets, providing both beyond-visual-range and close-combat interception capabilities.

The agreement ensures the operational availability and long-term sustainment of the missile systems, reinforcing the combat readiness of the Hellenic Air Force at a time of increasing regional security requirements. It also highlights the continued strategic defence cooperation between Greece and France, particularly in the field of advanced air combat systems and missile technologies.

The signing took place within the broader framework of the high-level Greek-French defence meetings held during the official visit of French President Emmanuel Macron to Greece and the renewal of the bilateral Strategic Partnership Agreement on Defence and Security.
